What is AlmaU?
We make the world a better place through the advancement of education, research, and entrepreneurship.
AlmaU Mission
AlmaU has been in the education market for over 35 years—it is the oldest private university in the country, the first business school in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a pioneer in business education in the CIS.

The history of AlmaU began with a small management school back in 1988. The school became the first to produce a new generation of managers for our young country. In 1996, when the first stage of development was successfully completed, the Almaty School of Management (ASM) was transformed into the International Academy of Business. And 25 years after its creation, the IAB entered the next stage of its upward spiral — the Academy received the status of a UNIVERSITY.

In accordance with the new AlmaU strategy, in 2014 the university set a course to create a model of an entrepreneurial university.

Admission to the examination session
Admission to the exam in a subject is based on an admission rating determined by the results of ongoing and periodic performance assessments.

The admission rating is calculated as follows:

Admission rating assessment

IMPORTANT! Students who have not achieved a minimum score of 50 points in the subject will NOT be admitted to the exam.

*In certain cases (due to illness, family or work circumstances), students may be allowed to take the exam session according to an individual schedule.
The final grade for the course is determined by the following formula:
Final

Appeal
A student who disagrees with the exam result must submit an appeal no later than the next working day after the exam grade is announced.

The Appeals Committee must review the appeal within 24 hours and make a decision on whether to revise the grade or uphold the original grade.

The final grade based on the appeal results shall be recorded in the transcript and counted toward the GPA.
Retaking an exam
Grade - “FX”
If a student receives an “FX” grade for an exam, they have the opportunity to retake the exam without repeating the course. The cost of retaking an exam with an “FX” grade is equal to the approved cost of 1 credit for the current academic period.

Retaking an “FX” grade without retaking the course (module) is allowed no more than once.

Grade “F”
If a student receives an “F” grade, they must re-enroll in the same course or another course that is related to their field of study, complete the entire course program, complete all assignments, obtain admission to the exam, and pass the final exam.

Re-enrollment in a course is only possible on a paid basis in the following academic period or in the summer semester.
